Authentic Disability Community

Centered in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul, MN, L’Arche Twin Cities is made up of Core Members with intellectual/developmental disabilities, Assistants offering varied supports, and an extended community of friends seeking meaning and connection.

Our home base is the historic Griggs Midway Building, right off the Fairview green line station. The space is shared with the self-advocacy organization Advocating Change Together.

We gather the first Saturday morning of every month for coffee and camaraderie, then deepen and extend these bonds through partnership with diverse communities and events (see our social media or mailing list for what’s in store this month!).

Differing from a traditional disability services organization, this model builds dynamic connections and capital across a variety of porous communities. It empowers self-advocates and caregivers with extra funding and mutual support while offering a unique “third space” where participants can be their authentic selves. And it’s even helping L’Arche re-envision what living out its core values looks like on a national level!

So many of us today are hungry for authentic connection, and our peers with disabilities happen to be great at creating it when given the chance. Attend an event, learn more about joining our community, subscribe to our monthly mailings, and/or donate to become a part of a movement for radical inclusion today!
